Underground Drainage Pipe System is a network of interconnected pipes that are installed below ground level to remove excess water from the soil or from other structures such as buildings and roads etc. The important function of an underground drainage system is to prevent water accumulation in low-lying areas which may cause flooding, erosion and damage to buildings, etc. This system is made of a series of interconnected pipes, with several varieties of fittings, valves, and pumps used to direct the flow of water.  Some general types of underground drainage pipes include corrugated plastic pipes, PVC pipes, concrete pipes, and clay pipes.

Proper installation of an underground drainage pipe system is essential for ensuring its effectiveness and durability.  There needs to be regular inspection and cleaning of the pipes to prevent various types of blockages and damage. Thus, periodic inspection is necessary to identify bottlenecks, and damage as well as cleaning of the pipes to remove any debris that may have accumulated.  Proper and regular maintenance prevents blockages or any other kind of damage, leading to costly repairs and system failures in the future. The collected water is needed to be directed to the underground drainage pipes through a network of gutters and collection pits etc.

UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE PIPE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS

Underground drainage pipe systems have a range of applications in residential and commercial settings. Some general applications are as follows:

1. Building drainage

An underground drainage pipe system is also used to remove wastewater from various important places in buildings, such as toilets, sinks, and showers. It helps to prevent sewage backups and maintain the sanitation of the building.

2. Stormwater management

One of the most common applications of underground drainage pipe systems is for the management of stormwater. Through this system excess rainwater is collected from rooftops, driveways, and other surfaces and directed to a designated drainage outlet.  By doing so, flooding and erosion can be prevented and it also helps to maintain the quality of local waterways.

3. Agricultural drainage

Underground drainage pipes are also used to remove excess water from fields and crops. It prevents waterlogging and improves the productivity of the land.

4. Roadway drainage

Underground drainage pipe systems are also used to remove excess water from roads and highways. It helps to prevent damage to the road surface and improves safety for drivers.

5. Sports field drainage

Several sports fields, such as soccer fields and baseball fields require effective drainage to maintain safe and playable surfaces.  Underground drainage pipes are widely  used to remove excess water from these fields and prevent any type of miss-happening.

FEATURES OF UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE PIPE SYSTEM

The underground drainage pipe system is designed with several features to ensure effective water management. The features of this system is as follows:

1. Fittings

In an underground drainage system, the pipes are connected using various types of  fittings, such as tees, elbows, and couplings. These  fittings  control the flow of water and ensure that the pipes are properly aligned

2. Pipe material

In earlier days  underground drainage pipes were made from metals. These pipes were sturdy and durable but they got rust and were very heavy to handle.  But with the advent of plastic things got changed. Now the drainage pipes are made from PVC-U material.  With extensive use in underground drainage and sewerage systems, these pipes are designed and manufactured for the conveyance of surface water and potable water.  The choice of material depends on various factors such as the type of soil, the intended use of the system, and local building codes and regulations.

3. Pipe Diameter

The diameter of the pipes in an underground drainage system varies and depends on the application and the volume of water to be transported.  Smaller-diameter pipes are used for residential applications, while larger-diameter pipes are used for commercial and industrial applications.

4. Pipe slope

The pipes in an underground drainage system are installed with a slope so that water flows freely through it.  The slope is between 0.5% and 1%, allowing water to flow naturally  and without the need for additional energy input.

5. Inlets and outlets

Inlets collect water from the surface and direct it into underground drainage pipes.  Outlets are used to discharge the water into a drainage system, such as a stormwater drain or detention pond.

6. Maintenance access

Underground drainage systems have regular maintenance access points, such as cleanout ports, to allow for the inspection and cleaning of the pipes. It helps to prevent blockages and damage to the system.

7. Easy to Install

It is a lightweight plastic drainage pipe that is easy to carry and install. It saves our cost by reducing labour work.

APL APOLLO UNDERGROUND DRAINAGE SYSTEM

underground drainage pipesAPL APOLLO Underground Drainage Pipes are made of Non-Pressure Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-U). These are rigid no-plasticized pipes with decent surface solidity and tensile resistance. Committed to quality products, these are manufactured with a high compressive rating and pipe safety factors. Considering their extensive uses in underground drainage and sewerage systems, these PVC-U pipes are also manufactured for the conveyance of surface water and potable water.

APL  Apollo Underground Drainage pipes have good aging resistance with a lifespan of up to 50 years. These pipes are also resistant to acids, alkalis, and salts which makes them best for sewerage and effluent disposal. They are a low coefficient of friction of PVC-U resulting in efficient flow and less need for maintenance.  Apart from it, these pipes are manufactured with a combustion-proof material at Grade B2 with high oxygen value, which is self-extinguishing. These pipes have low thermal conductivity and elastic modulus, and better cold resistance than cast iron sewerage pipes.
