The full form of PVC  is Polyvinyl Chloride.  It is a synthetic plastic polymer that is one of the most widely used thermoplastics in the world.  It is the third most generally produced plastic after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC is a multi-purpose material that is used in various sectors. One of the materials is PVC pipes. PVC pipes are flexible and can withstand all extremities of the weather. PVC pipes have the lowest pipe break rate as compared to cast iron, ductile iron, concrete, steel, and asbestos cement pipes. PVC pipes have  a wide range of applications and some of them can be described as follows:

Applications Of PVC Pipes

1. Plumbing Sector

PVC pipes are generally used in plumbing applications to transport water, waste, and other fluids in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.  PVC pipes are manufactured and available in various dimensions, lengths, and sizes. Plumbing is the largest industry in PVC applications by quantity and weight mass.

2. Drainage systems

PVC pipes are also used in drainage systems to carry wastewater, stormwater, and other fluids away from buildings. These pipes are most frequently used in waste management and control. PVC pipes are installed in wastewater transportation, sewers, drains, and vents which are connected to different buildings and equipment. These pipes are useful in these applications as they have synthetic properties such as resistance to corrosion, and rust, microbiological layer growth, improved plasticity, etc.

3. Electrical conduits

PVC pipes are widely used as electrical conduits to protect electrical wires and cables in buildings and infrastructure projects.

4. Irrigation systems

PVC pipes are used in irrigation systems to transport water from the source to the crops in agriculture and gardening applications. In fact, agriculture is one of the important sectors and is incomplete without PVC pipes. PVC pipes are very frequently used for all important functions of agriculture from bore-well to water irrigation, sprinklers, and spraying of pesticides and fertilizers, etc.

5. Ventilation systems

PVC pipes are also used in ventilation systems to circulate air and remove stale air, smoke, and fumes from buildings and other enclosed spaces and places.

6. Water supply systems

PVC pipes are also used in water supply systems to transport potable water from the source to the consumers in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

7. Chemical Handling

PVC pipes are the best to handle particular types of chemicals, as compared to metal pipes. The lengthy polymeric chains of PVC offer a high material resistance against degradation, chemical attack, and corrosion.   The chlorine in PVC makes it fire-resistant and stops the flames to spread.  Thus, PVC pipes and plumbing are frequently applied for use in handling chemicals as well as their transfer, production, delivery, and processes.  PVC pipes are used to transport several chemicals such as alcohols, organic acids,  hydrocarbons, oxidizing acids, salts, inorganic acids, halogens, alkalis, and ammonia.

8. Gas distribution systems

PVC pipes are also used in gas distribution systems to transport natural gas and other gases from the source to the consumers in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

9. Fire Sprinklers

PVC pipes are generally employed in the fire sprinkler system set up in public places like museums, theatres, libraries hotels, offices, and any other private buildings. The PVC pipes are resistant to corrosion, scale, or any microbiological layer formation making them durable, and low in maintenance as opposed to the traditional iron pipes.  As we know that PVC pipes are light in weight and thus can be easily assembled in a small space.

10. PVC Pipes for Rainwater Management

PVC pipes are used for rainwater harvesting systems. These pipes are important for the maintenance and distribution of rainwater.  The rainwater is carried from the rooftop through the PVC pipes down into a storage or harvesting system. The fitting material that is used to connect the channel has special sockets so that they can be fitted easily and avoid leakage. The PVC pipes provide an advantage over the iron pipes that rust easily. They also come in various sizes and can be installed easily based on the need for the harvesting system. The high-quality PVC pipes ensure that there is no crack or bend in the system and have a UV stabilizer.

Upgrading Gas Pipes for Better Energy Savings

Sometimes many people think that energy-saving begins and ends with efficient and high-quality appliances. They change their gas stove and remain under the wrong impression that it will save energy. But the condition of your gas pipes plays an equally crucial role in saving energy. Old, corroded, or poorly installed pipes can silently waste energy.

How to Choose Best Quality Water Tank for Your Home

When you choose best quality water tank for your home, your primary concern is to ensure you and your family get clean, safe and sufficient water for daily use. With so many brands and options available in the market, it can be confusing to find the right one. But with a few simple tips, you can easily pick a tank that suits your home, budget, and water needs.

Why DWC Pipes are Great for Underground Drainage Systems

DWC (Double Wall Corrugated) pipes are specially designed plastic pipes that are made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). These pipes have a double-layered structure: a corrugated outer wall and a smooth inner wall. The outer layer provides extra strength and protection against external pressure, while the inner layer ensures smooth flow of water and waste without blockage.

PLB Duct Pipes - The Best Pick for Underground Cable Runs

PLB duct pipes (Permanent Lubricated Duct Pipes) are made from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and come with a permanently lubricated inner surface. This lubrication is added during the manufacturing process, ensuring it doesn’t weaken with time. The smooth inner surface reduces friction, which allows easy and safe insertion of fiber optic or copper cables.
